The Reflective Chair was founded to support salon professionals in navigating the people side of salon practice.
Every day, salon professionals build trusted relationships with clients. Alongside delivering exceptional services, they may encounter conversations around wellbeing, mental health, neurodiversity, safeguarding concerns and significant life events. While these conversations can be meaningful, many professionals receive little guidance on how to navigate them whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
The Reflective Chair provides practical, salon-focused training, coaching and consultancy that helps professionals respond with confidence, create inclusive environments and strengthen everyday practice.
Our role is not to turn salon professionals into health or social care practitioners. Instead, we provide the knowledge, awareness and practical skills to help professionals respond appropriately within their role, maintain healthy professional boundaries and recognise when concerns should be signposted or escalated.

Through education, reflective practice and professional development, our mission is to empower salon teams with the confidence to navigate challenging conversations, strengthen workplace culture and deliver exceptional client experiences.
Our Approach
Everything we deliver is underpinned by The Reflective Chair’s own reflective model, providing a practical framework that supports confidence, reflection and professional growth. Our approach is collaborative, practical and evidence-informed, helping salon professionals build confidence while remaining true to their professional role.
Meet the Founder
The Reflective Chair was founded by Sian, a qualified Social Worker, PGCE-qualified educator, coach and consultant with experience in safeguarding, mental health, workforce development and professional education.
Alongside this professional background, Sian also has a foundation in hairdressing, providing first-hand insight into the realities of salon life. This unique combination of experience allows The Reflective Chair to bridge the gap between professional knowledge and everyday salon practice.
Every training programme, coaching session and consultancy project is designed to be practical, engaging and directly relevant to the challenges faced by today’s salon professionals.
